With the store opening, I have not been able to do a whole lot of fishing this year. Last night my oldest son and I decided to try gigging Folly. Limited out and took a few sheeps and redfish as well. Saw 23 and Capt Tang, they seemed to have done well too.

NMFS = No More Fishing Season
“Back home we got a taxidermy man. He gonna have a heart attack when he see what I brung him”
“In every species of fish I’ve angled for, it is the ones that have got away that thrill me the most, the ones that keep fresh in my memory. So I say it is good to lose fish. If we didn’t, much of the thrill of angling would be gone.” Ray Bergman
Yeah, last night was good. New territory for me gigging but it was productive. Too bad that rain today ruined the gigging for the next week or so. Our big fish was 22", didn’t weigh it. Sells’ biggest was over 7lbs.
gigging is on my to do list for sure. my buddy i usually go fishing with has been in the hospital for a couple weeks. i hope to get him out there soon for sure
So, I guess I can forget about catching a flounder out of Folly this weekend! I was fishing off the dock a couple of weeks ago due to lift problems and actually had one of those doormats “accidentally” hooked (a long story). Anyway, when I got it to surface it decided otherwise, rolled over and ripped the knot on my hook. Some great looking flounder, congrats.
I am wondering who is going to volunteer to take me gigging for my 1st time . Dad and 2 brothers went all the time with dad. I was either too young or off playing Army for 20 years. I would love to watch n maybe try to gig a fish.
I have no less than three or four people a week ask me to bring them a redfish. For each one I harvest, I release 50…maybe more. You of all people should know the numbers are better than they’ve been in what? 30 years? More?
