I’ll be on folly all day on Wednesday. Hope I don’t get skunked. Wish me luck!
Need to get out there myself. Have heard some good reports recently. Good luck and let us know how you do!
Good luck! Where on Folly are you fishing? I would like to do a little more surf fishing this year.

I go down to the park and fish near the jetti. I did ok today. Caught 2 flounder, 1 whiting and 1 bluefish. I caught the flounder in the tidal pools when it was low tide. Beautiful day to be fishing!
Wish I could have joined you. Me and my brother will be at Folly or Pawley on Friday.
i knew there were gonna be some in there sooner or later with the amount of bait in there. any size or were they 12"ers
Yeah they were too small. But fun to catch!
You the guy from the 'ville I talked too in the am?
Re the a$$hat story I told regarding Monday morning and the “I own this stretch of beach and these are my fish”…(not to mention a$$hat arguing with me about the slot size being 15-25 ) well, after talking to the other dude who showed up a little later yesterday, turns out he almost went to blows with those guys over the same thing on Monday.
Weird, it just made us both feel better about ourselves. I only managed one dink red after abandoning live bait and cut it into small chunks but by that time I had to go… but what a difference in how I felt about the “whole trip” between yesterday and Monday.
See ya next time!
Anyone know if Pawleys island has a fillet guy at any of their bate shops or which bait shops are the best. . I’m new to surf or pier fishing so i kinda need help and guidance don’t have a clue how to clean them out if I’ll catch any but I’m gonna try. …
Mugil… I’m the same guy. Gonna try and come out again next week.
Cool man, if I happen to be there before you, feel free to set up beside me… I won’t act like I own the jetty.

That’s interesting that you caught the flounder in a tidal pool. I just read about targeting then in the beach troughs at low tide but never see them on the beach so figured they weren’t there. Did you see him in the tidal pool or were you blindcasting?

Surf fished in Beaufort County last Monday. Great day. Between my buddy and me we landed 25 redfish, mostly upper slot and over, and a few black drum. All in about 3 hours. Fished cut mullet and shrimp.

I was blindcasting. I actually saw some other fish in the pools. Not sure what they were but I figured maybe I could try and catch them. Never caught what I saw. A couple weeks ago I was out there with a buddy of mine and he was throwing a bass crankbait in one of the pools by the jetti. Next thing I know he’s pulling in a flounder. So crazy. Whenever the tide is out I will always cast in those tidal pools. Might not be keepers but at least I’m catching something.
I would guess the fish you were seeing were big mullet. I caught many yesterday in the net with one being as big as a dang football…17" at least…hog mullet bo. They aren’t bad eating either if you treat them right and they will be roed up shortly!.
Caught one flounder just under 13" on an electric chicken but nada in the surf using whole and cut finger mullet in what looked to be perfect conditions. Maybe shoulda kept one of the bigger boys and chunked it up.
My 4 year old had a Ninja Turtle Zebco I put a bottom rig on and a small hook. To placate him, I threw it as far as I could in the gulley and told him to reel it in while I caught some bait. Well as I threw the net, they start screaming they got something and sure enough, the rod is doubled over and moving around . Turns out he snagged a ray… it was off the hook (no pun intended )
Great place to be regardless.
