Well the surf wasnt huge but it was choppy and whrn you got of about 50yds the waves got bigger, stacked up and mixed directions. A 3ft breaker in front and a 3ft breaker on the port side, even ran into big breaking surfable waves 200yds off shore. Dropped a cownose wing chunk and a mullet chunk about 350 or 400yds and 150 to 200yds on my big rods and then the double drop with a small mullet chunk and 3 by 3in mullet chunk about 75 to 100yds out. The 3 by 3 got a hit when i was swimming about 50yds out. I saw the rod shaking and swam/ ran to the sand, then ran the 30 to 40yds to my rod. I reeled and felt nothing so i stopped reeling and waited and i felt the rod shake a little. I started to reel again and could feel something on there. Between the old school 12ft ugly stick casting rod (beast) and the diawa bg 8000 it felt like a whiting but i knew it was bigger because you cant even feel a whiting on this combo. After reeling it in and feeli g a few tail kicks pump the rod a little i beached my first shark of 2018. I think im like 1 for 6 on tripa now but most are short trips to folly after work. About a 3 ftr. My buddy caught about a 18 inch bonnet on shrimp. Fished from 6 to 10 30 low tide for the most part. No whiting hits in the thirty or so minutes we fished with shrimp. Talked to like 5 or so groups of people and 2 caught nothing, 1 caight some small sharks like 3ft, another group caught some whiting, and another guy caught a keeper black deum and a big pompano.
