They are here ive seen a lot caught and heard about a lot caught. I hooked 8 landed 3 lost 1 and passed the rod off 4 times to watch people struggle. So far a 13 yr old young angler, a 14, a 21 yr old pretty good fisher, and a not so macho man (feminine) in his mid 20s have failed the redfish challenge. If im talking to someone or someone is passing by and they look like a good canidate to pass the rod to i do. Women and children are good targets but i pretty much just try to pick someone who looks like they have little fishing experience. I put heavy drag on the reel before i pass and get a feel for what it is, reds have a distinctive fighting style and thw rod pumps usually give them away. The reds were qith the bait and there was mullet and menhadden super thick and they have been hanging within about 8 blocks of either side of the pier. When there is heavy bait migration it pays off to check more then 1 access for bait and conditions. The bonnet head and blacktips are thick. Ive caught like 20 in the last to trips. Ive got a 40ish a 42 and a 45 plus red fish. My first big red this year was my goal red of 45inches. I guess time to up the goal to a 50 incher.
Nice I need to start hanging out with you, I think I’m doing it wrong.
I love that you’re sharing the love. The only thing I enjoy more than catching a fish is seeing someone else catch their first!
