Hadn’t had the opportunity to fish with my dad but twice this year and neither in the salt. Work’s been crazy but that’s no excuse, it was time to fix that!!!
Left Anderson at 4am was on the sand at 8am right as the tide started receeding. Stopped right off the public access so I could rig the bait rods, tied dad on a stingsilver and he started working down the beach towards the pier. As soon as I had everything rigged I looked up to holler so we could head towards the south end and saw him walking back with a good sized trout, great start to the morning!! Went and fished where he caught the trout for a little while but produced nothing but a few bluefish.
Ended up down near the point and set up, didn’t take long for a mullet head to start screaming off and a 33" to hit the sand. Couple quick pics an attempted revive and the fish splashed me and took off beautifully. Had to head back fairly early so we could get up early for work today, final tally:
Big Red, 17" trout, 4 blues, 6-7 sea mullet, and a VERY lost oyster toad.
Thanks for everybody that posted reports right after the storm, gave me the confidence to head down and we had a great time!
I fish to leave the rest of the world behind. I fish because I respect the fish. I fish because it’s in my DNA.
