Went after work yesterday around 4:30pm. Got to 8th street on the south side and was fishing for whatever was out there, shrimp on a double drop rig. Water was beautiful, greenish blue and very high visibility. No bites at all for almost an hour, do fish not typically bite with clean/clear water? I started throwing artificials for a bit, tried a bucktail with grub and a Gotcha plug, no hits at all. Right before dark I was about to call it, got slammed and thought it was a drum and turned out to be one of the bigger whiting I’ve ever caught. At least I didn’t get skunked.
Went out again today around 1pm and fished incoming tide. Small sharpnose, bunch of whiting, then finished the day off with this nice black drum. Great time, hope everyone else was able to get out today.
