Coming to folly today to surf fish . Should I try the county park or the light house end of the island to fish for sharks. I understand there are no shark fishing zone. I will have a kayak available. Ocean side or river side? Any tips appreciated. Thanks Ryan
Oceanside for me usually has faster bites but a lot of 4ft fish, it is a good walk to either end to the river from where you park. Both ends inlet is shallow with lots of bars, breakers and bad current. I usualy fish right in front of the col de sac on the lighthouse end when fishing folly, but I want to try 11st and all the way in the inlet by the light house where 3 rivers converge and form a 30ft hole but I haven’t had anybody willing to make the trek a mile plus with gear and you can get stuck at high tide… What’s your bait? I like to use a combo like bonita and ray or shark, because bonita is great but is easily stolen and theses tougher baits help with getting your bait stole. I know Folly fisher fishes the park end. You should see action where ever you go, but there is only 3 main spots that doesn’t have groins, and are legal to shark fish both ends and a little before the county park and 11 st toward the lighthouse.
Thanks for the info
I called the Folly Beach police dept and asked If I could be at the north end at night to shark fish, They told me that there is no shark fishing allowed anywhere on Folly. I think this a bluff How can they prove your shark fishing if you have a red rig out I think this is a bluff What say you
Test their bluff. It’s your pocket paying not ours lol
I believe that’s BS and that it is just a few blocks either side of the pier, but I would certainly not take my word so don’t come visiting me with a bill. But I do believe there is a pretty thorough thread regarding this subject, do a search.
A letter to the editor of the local newspaper about “What do they thing about an officer of the law purposely giving out false information regarding the law” would be interesting. Wonder if his superior officer would condone this? I’m just saying . . .
