Good morning everyone! I’ll be staying in a condo right by Loggerheads on Folly Beach. I’m from Pennsylvania and have never fished this area or surf fished. Obviously I am going to fish the pier, but I really want to learn to surf fish. I’ve been reading that surf fishing in the area has been quite good.
I am only going to have a couple hours per day to fish and I was wondering if anyone knew of anywhere within walking distance that allows fishing from shore. Also, some tips for a beginner in this area. I’m not looking for any secret spots or species. I just want to land a few - I’d be happy with a blue fish.
Thanks and tight lines.

I’d start with a bag of frozen menhaden from crosby’s. Cut it into chunks and put it on a 5/0 circle hook. Walk down to the beach and cast it out. It’s pretty simple.
Mullet and bluefish are the top redfish bait. You can fish any where on folly as long as your not close to swimmers. There is a ban on shark fishing on the pier and for 3 blocks either side of it. On the west side of folly fishing is good behind the last house by the park on down to the inlet. On the east side of folly i prefer to fish the rocks toward the inlet and litehouse.

Great thanks! That sounds easy enough. Some of the YouTube videos on surf fishing make it sound pretty complex. I’ll post my results.
