Folly Surf Report 11/30/15

Hello all, My wife kept telling me how lazy I was because I wanted to take a nap over going fishing! Not sure what is wrong with me! So tryin to regain any manliness I had left I put my cart together and headed to folly. Got some shrimp at Crosbys $9.99 for 11-15 count (I question why I don’t buy 10 lbs of shrimp at $2.50 a lb when they have it and just freeze it in ziplocks) but the large premium bait that I am buying will have to work. I get to the county park area about 3:15pm outgoing tide almost low tide sunny about 72 deg. Glad I listened to my all knowing wife! Fishing was excellent if you are targeting whiting! Between 3:15 and 4:45pm I caught about 30 whiting, 6 Black drum, 1 big Spot, and 1 Bluefish. I kept 4 nice sized whiting for dinner and let the rest go. In case anyone is interested I used a 3 oz weight and I posted pictures of the two different rigs that I used. The shorter or the two rigs often called a porgy rig was far less productive than the long double drop rig today. What is odd is that I normally find the opposite to be true. Just my two cents. Good luck all!

Thats a mess of fish in an hour and a half, good for you Sir

Thank you Runbabyrun! I needed it I’ve been mostly skunked all summer. What was really nice is all the pinfish must have moved on. I think I might have to go down there again today

Sounds like a good day !
Were you fishing in the surf or in the inlet ?
Thanks !
