I think it may have been wishfull thinking but I tried a little surf fishing Sunday near the rock piles on folly. Used small bits of shrimp no shell. Not even a little bite. It was cold too around 52 while the temp at my house on James island was 70. I think that water is keeping the air cold. Hopefully spring comes soon
I feel your pain. I caught some mud minnows in my trap but I think I’m going to turn them loose.
I walked the folly pier at lunch today. It was a very lonely place. It was however fun to watch the guys who are replacing the wood on the pier. Four guys would stand around and chat while one was using a hammer to nail the boards in.

Sounds like a SCDHPT road crew…

if you are actually trying to surf fish right now you must be uber bored…
lay off the pier folks. they work their butts off, I would like to see you deal with the shenanigans they have to deal with during the summer
next time you want to hate use proper grammar at least

Why not try to surf fish this time of year? Better than working. I will surf “fish” anytime, as long as it’s not blown out. Even after work, if the days weren’t so short. Do I expect to “catch” every time? Heck No! But the unexpected is fun and the Stingrays are almost always hungry. Check my post from Sun. 2/9. Was a pretty good day. And yeah the water is friggin’ cold! I do know I will catch ZERO if I sit at home. I will be out this weekend as well.
“If it were catching, Everyone would be good at it.”
Yep, good for you, like that attitude, nothing wrong with fishing this time of year!
Grammar fixed I think… :). Mr keys , come on everyone enjoys the famous past time of making fun of the road crew that stands around watching the one guy work. This just happens to be the pier crew. I’m sure they work their butt off it was just entertaining.
have fun guys, ill wait until april when the bikinis reappear

yep, I think I’ll wait 'till spring when the warm weather birds return such as the pert breasted disc flinger…
Heck, I take my wife when I go. She wears hers. Guess it’s the thinking that really counts. So you guys can stay home, means more fishing for me. Will be going Sat. & Sun. Should be pretty nice. Birds in bikinis. Ain’t nobody got no time for that!

I just moved down to Charleston from Charlotte. I love the salt life. I’ve fished a couple times and caught nothing and enjoyed every second of it. I’m really an amateur and would appreciate any tips in regards to location and bait. I’m near the limehouse bridge. Would the surf be better than the waterways?
Thanks!
