Folly Surf

Hello all!

I’m thinking about hitting the surf for this first time this summer on Folly this weekend. Tides seem to fit right with my schedule. I have been surf fishing Folly since I was a kid and I pretty much know all the ins and outs. My norm is whiting with the occasional ladyfish, spot, croaker, black drum, shark and/or ray.

I normally just stake out a good spot a good ways out from the crowds, but the spots are random depending on what the bottom looks like at lowtide.

My question is, since more heads are better than one, are there any particular areas down by the county park (hardly ever venture that far) where I have a better possibility of landing a good sized redfish or larger game fish (rather than just the run of the mill pan-sized fish)?

Thanks!

Follow it all the way to the end where the corner meets with the ocean and the inlet. Have caught a bit of everything over there. (sharks, rays, trout, drum [red and black],flounder)

I live out on Folly in the Spring/Summer, always looking to find people to surf fish with. PM me if you need a partner sometime.

I will be down for the week of memorial day. I hope the fishing is good

Get there early, because the beach will be packed. Speaking from experience. That said if you can get away from the swimmers the fishing is typically pretty good.

A bad day of fishing beats a good day of work anytime.

I normally watch the sunrise, I beat the swimmers to the water:)
