Been calling the date for weeks, planning with the crew, well no one wanted to am fish with me. Up and packed early 6am for a nice ride to a different beach remembered the morning nats from last trip so I poked around till 7 and got there like 8 or 830 lines in 9 to 945ish, 500yds blackfin tuna tail and 250 300ish mullets. A couple small taps and not long after I hook up on the tuna tail. I give it the wood “full drag” and bye bye goes about 30 to 50yds then some more slow short runs. One I Will E, a proven fighter and survivor. She’s 80 inches and growing. My hand was a little short of the nose and it was on 79 at the tip of the tale on the tape. First decent shark of the season and biggest I’ve heard of in the area since its so early. Fished till like 230, several smaller hits and missing mullets. Very nice day overall.
My line got ran over by a boat and I had to hold the spool melting my hands. Next drop I’m taking a giant spider weight out to try to snag my half spool of 150pp aka a solid 100$ and I find it floating on the surface. Golden, uni to uni and in lost a bout a ft total and not a chafe on the line at all. I also lost my knock off go pro. Good thing its a knock off and didn’t cost much. Got crunched by a good wave and it knocked it out the mount some how. 1st the go pro gone, then I catch the shark, then the boat hit the line, then finding my line all in about a hr. The go pro I laughed over, melted thumbs and a idiot to close to the beach did get me down a bit, but it was great to find it.

When you see “Old Glory” waving in the breeze, know that it is the dying breaths of our fallen hero’s that makes it wave.
