For Clemson fans

I’m curious about how ya’ll feel about the play calling after Boyd went to the locker room?
Starting QB got hurt on a QB keeper. Then the backup comes in and runs 2 QB keepers in a row on that drive. Why risk your backup QB? you have a RB, use him. also your team was dominating and you were winning big. If you are behind, I get it…

I don’t remember what the score was when Tajh went out but i don’t remember questioning the playcalling at the time, but i can see where you’re coming from. It’s a fine line to walk for the coaches in a situation like that.

A couple years ago, in this situation, Clemson would have let off the gas due to the backup coming in and possibly lost the game. The backup to the backup ain’t so bad either. That makes it a little easier to “risk” your 2nd stringer.

Run your offense and play your defense that got you to that point the entire game, no matter the personnel in the game. Playing safe and prevent only allows you to lose the game.

Besides, why wouldn’t you want the backup to run as much of the offense in a game situation as you can. Get the experience and he’s ready to take over in a bigger pressure situation.

Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal? I wouldn’t go so far as to call a dog filthy but they’re definitely dirty. But, a dog’s got personality. Personality goes a long way.

I understand that thinking and I’m sure that is why they did it. But wasnt he in for only 2-3 series?
And trust me I understand the prevent comment. But do you really think not running the QB is prevent?

Lord…please help us…

The QB keepers kept our passing game in check. We were covered pretty strong all night when running the backs, or pitching screens. The QB keeper had the best creases all night. So why not run it to keep the air game a threat?

It’s not like we had the game in the bag. GT showed us early that they could score quick. I think that got Dabo concerned so he stuck to his gameplan.

On a side note I enjoyed watching my first Thursday night game with my son. He loved the balloons, braved the cold, and didn’t complain all night.

I forgot to add, give mad props to Martavius. He was insane last night. Best I have ever seen him play. I just hope he didn’t elevate his status to tempt himself to go to the draft.

Glad to see Sammy put some distance between him and his foes again as well.

Every time that Stoudt has been in late, Kelley quickly follows for a few series as well. Can’t develop depth at the position unless those guys get snaps. With Watson coming in, that is going to be a tight race into the fall. Stoudt is a (**() good passer, those throws were pinpoint, Kelley is a better runner and Watson is both.

Stoudt is no slouch at running either. How tall is he? he looks funny running, like his legs are to long. And yeh he has a nice throw.

Boyd told ESPN’s Joe Schad that he has a bruised sternum and collarbone, but not a broken bone.

OUCH. bruised sternum sounds painful. I would think it would hurt to breath. Glad its not a break

Maybe they should let him rest for the citadel game if he is really sore or the bruise really hurts. let Stoudt & Kelly get experience…

Not like he has any records left to break…

I would sit him, but then again, I would run my 2nd QB after the 1st gets hurt. But so is the life of an arm chair coach

Always interesting to me people judge Clemson for running the QB. That’s part of what makes Tajh a good QB.

ED, I don’t think anyone here is questioning running Boyd. He is one of there best backs. The questioning is in running the backup QB after Boyd was hurt.

The running plays were working for Boyd. When Cole came out the D set up like they were looking for a pass play. Why not? It worked! They all want to play ball - not concerned about getting hurt. I did hear something that resembled that a while back? - NA not going to go there.
