Want to surf fish beach at Frampton Inlet. How can I get to that area without a boat? Driving down from the upstate. Thanks for any feedback!
Only way I know of is to wade across, from Edisto Island, at low tide.
Welcome back to the site, and keep us posted on your adventures!!
MN is correct, for the most part.
Another way is to rent a place on Jeremy Cay for your stay. There are just a few. Also look into some of the places to rent on Cowpens.
When I was younger and more “agile” we used to take a jon boat into Frampton at high tide and fish an hour or two tops and get out. I haven’t been there in a while.
Thanks guys. Just thinking, I could walk across the creek at low tide at the end of edisto like MN said but I’d be there 12 hrs in order to return. Could I rent a canoe and take my stuff and float over at low and float back at high ? Just thinking outside the box. I have a 20 ft sea ark but I don’t know much about fishing around edisto and I’ve heard the surf fishing is not good around edisto except Frampton Inlet. Way back in the day I had a 16 ft Scout boat and could launch at Botany Bay and park at Frampton Inlet and catch some nice reds at the inlet. Can’t do that anymore. Thanks !
I haven’t fished Frampton in years, but I do remember the tide change is quick, and the current can be worrisome.
We always came by boat when we fished there.
Yes, I wouldn’t attempt crossing Frampton, just Jeremy Inlet to get there.
Take the sea ark and anchor up outside Frampton on the outgoing just beyond the breakers in the soft water. Toss float rigs as far up into the mouth of the creek as you can. the trout love the little brown creek shrimp there.
I may just end up trying that. Thanks.
Keep us posted.
surely he won’t wait another 10 years to check back in after all that good inside info
I can’t wait to see the pics either
It don’t take long for ten years to go by nowadays!
When I was growing up there was a private ramp we put in at an old house. You put $2 in a box on the porch, then we took our Jon boat around and anchored on the back side of Edingsville island or Botany Bay Island on the north side and walked across to fish the surf. Great times catching Spot Tails and Flounder, even Drum sometimes when some wood structure or something washed up on the beach. When the old Captain that lived there, Red if I remember right, passed away the family started charging a lot more to put in. We had a small Boston Whaler by then and they put HP restrictions, eventually making it private.
Yes, put in there many times 25-30 years ago when I had a 16’ Scout. There was a cranky old family that lived in the house. Those were the days. I don’t think you can launch anymore. I don’t know what’s there but that had to be very expensive land. Now I’d give anything just to fish the inlet. At one time there was a guy there that would take you out to the inlet and pick you up 8 hrs later. Also, there is a creek there that was full of 15’’ reds. I mean full.
Y’all have inspired me. Im going to run out there on the ocean side today and see whats in the mouth of the inlet.
Let us know!
