Been fishing/exploring the northend, botany bay and south creek…anybody know if Frampton Inlet can be reached on a high tide from south (ocella) creek area…I’ve looked over aerials and it looks aweful skinny, but I’m running a 17’ jon boat that can get in 6" of water…
It can be entered at high tide but you need to know where the channel is and it changes.

now that brings back memories! 20 years ago or so we would take john boats from Rockville and on a rising tide work our way to Framptons to surf fish. It was very tough to get all the way there. I recall turning left around Botany Island and working through basically flooded marsh, under the little wooden bridge at (I guess) Edingsville Beach and around to the inlet/beach. Surf fishing for spottail bass (NOT REDFISH)
was great. I didn’t know the way and since this was before handheld GPS I had to follow my buddy. However, there was a place before the bridge you could go (and I could find), they called it “the smokehouse”. Not really sure why but there was what looked to be some sort of treehouse or hut near there so maybe that’s why. The surf fishing was fantastic there as well. At low tide, the beach is all mud/reef and when the tide came in look out! You still had to watch the “creek” so as to get out of there before the tide went out. Oe day we were slaying them pretty good and lost track. Checked the “creek” and it looked like a dirt road. No way were we going to spend the night out there so we unbolted the motor and drug my Alumacraft 1470 across the dunes and to the surf. We took a few waves over the bow going out and I ran with the plug out all the way around Botany. When we got just inside, we beached it and high fived it with beers on Botany. Took off, crossed the bay and headed up Bohicket Creek towards Rockville. In sight of the hill my 25 'rudi spun crank bearings and was toast. ■■■■ good thing tht didn’t happen leaving the beach.
I’ve been trying to get back there for many years. It’s great out there. I just can’t seem to make it. Maybe I need to try harder.
