Actually there are several different ways you can wear it. I like one around my neck to keep from getting burned.

I used to think the exactly same way you did, and made fun of them just like you too…until I tried one out.
When fishing I never reapply sunscreen throughout the day. Now just cruising around and going to the beach is a different story. My neck always get burned when fishing and not reapplying sunscreen, pretty badly usually. Not anymore. I don’t ever pull it up over my face, just around my neck. Other plus is no more greasy suncreen smeared all over the steering wheel, rods, reels, etc.

I don’t like wearing a buff all that much, but I like it a whole lot better than wearing sunscreen. No matter how careful I am when applying sunscreen to my face, I end up getting some in my eyes at some point during the day. A long-sleeve shirt with a picture of a fish or boat on it, a wide-brimmed hat, buff, and sunglasses and I’m good-to-go. No sunscreen needed and I can always strip down for 30 minutes and get some free vitamin D! Sunscreen blocks the absorption of vitamin D…not good.
