They were not the only ones having issues this weekend. Saw this Saturday afternoon on the ICW north of IOP. It wasn’t there on Friday afternoon, so must have happened Friday night or early Saturday. Sorry for the sideways picture. Not sure how to edit that.
Pics look fine to me.
That boat in the icw looks like it could have been a nasty one if they were going at speed.
Glad no one was injured in the freeman, thats a sketchy area to be boating that close to sullivans even in the daytime. Groynes in that area will reach out and touch hard you if you arent paying attention. I’d be counting my lucky stars i didnt tag one of those instead
Hitting a bar vs hitting Sullivans…one of these things is not like the other.
we all make mistakes, so go easy, remember it could be any one of us.
I spent several hours one evening on our anniversary stuck on a flat out at bird keys chasing spottail.
back in the 90’s, no cell, 2 hours after dark by the time the tide came in enough to push off the flat.
wife had already sent people to look for me.

Yeah, you get a really good look at it this way.

I agree with you and never post anything to shame anyone. Heck, I grounded myself on a sandbar this weekend. Had some extra weight in the boat and got a little too confident thinking that the incoming tide was a little further along than it actually was. The wife was not impressed. Fortunately I was able to get going again rather quickly.
With that being said, there are some things I see that make me go hmmm. I just try to learn from others so I can be safer and more knowledgeable.

X3 on that!! If you haven’t been there, you will be if you keep at it long enough. That Capt. has enough troubles without this.
I’ve seen many things that made me go Hmmmm, howinhell did they do that:question: But I try to help them as best I can and would never post their picture on the Internet. I’ll post pics of me aground, I can laugh at myself, but not you. As we say here in the swamp, what goes around comes around.

Just an observation, there are no registration numbers on the freeman.

Was probably slick calm and captain decided to pull on the beach to hang out and it was likely high tide. Tide dropped and you can’t exactly push a boat like that off a sand bar and the next high tide probably wasn’t as high, so the boat was stuck for a while.
If you boat often enough and long enough, you’ll have this or something similar happen to you, so cut this guy some slack.
I fish there all the time and you never see a single boat go on that side of the red buoys. Would I yes, did they yes is this the guaranteed result, no. I think they just got a little comfortable or distracted. Like it was said these things happen with time on the water. Beaching your boat is a mister minor offense as far as a mess up goes, its not like he hit the buoy or jetties and nothing was hurt but a ego and wallet so its not a biggie.
I heard late night ride home from Hootie concert.
