Freezing shark bait?

Last year around this time all we caught in georgetown were sting rays. How well do they hold up if frozen? If possible id like to catch a few, freez’em and use them for bait in the spring/summer. Any input?

I’ve never had any trouble catching stringray.

They do stink up the freezer if you don’t wrap them good. They hold up pretty good since they aren’t like bonita or other oily fish. Not a big fan of freezing shark bait , but some work fine. I used nearly an entire 6’ across ray for baits for half a season one year… had to freeze it and it produced runs on every piece.

you can find a small chest freezer for about $150 or so at either sears, lowes, home depot, … that you could use for shark bait if the smell is a concern. ive never had a problem storing stingrays or large chunks of fish and although fresh is better, frozen will get you in the water and still catches sharks.

Im looking for an outdoor refrigerator now to store all of our bait and catches.
