Went fishing tuesday and had a bunch of fresh shrimp left over. How long will they stay good in the fridge? I have em in a zip lock and made sure to drain some of the slime. Basically keeping them dry and cold. They smell fine and they are not mushy. Gonna use them by tomorrow AM but just wondered what others do. Thanks
Get a container and cover the bottom with salt, put a layer of shrimp down, cover with salt, another layer of shrimp, cover with salt etc etc. You can just leave it in a pantry and there will be no smell and it will last you an extremely long time. Do it all the time and catch just as many fish. The salt also dries the shrimp out which makes getting it on the hook and staying there really easy.

Just pack them loosely in a zipper bag and freeze them, they will still be okay a couple weeks. I always freeze my “fresh” shrimp a few hours anyways. Or take them home and boil’em up for a nice shrimp cocktail!!

I put my left overs in a Ziploc bag and fill it with water and basically make a shrimp ice cube. Works great with mullet, menhaden, and fiddlers as well. My wife isn’t crazy about all of the frozen bait at the bottom of the deep freezer lol.

I second the ice cube method, but save your milk cartons paper ones and fill with shrimp cover with water close lid and freeze easy to store and can last dam near a year. Sometimes the zip locks get poked by the shrimp and you wake up to mess in freezer.
sorry forgot to say this method is great for bulk just pull out carton and thaw.
I have some frozen from a year ago and it seems to work as well or close to fresh shrimp. Just freeze it straight in the bag or submerge in water.
Larry The Cable Guy went on a guided fishing trip in Georgia. They were targeting Catfish. Guide pulled out shrimp for bait…Larry says the heck with the catfish…we can eat the shrimp:wink:
