thurs and fri look to be pretty nice, low 70s…im going to put a few lines out early friday morning. low is right around sunrise, so ill head out there around 7/8 and fish the incoming. i scouted the morris island end saturday and there’s a pretty good deeper channel between the beach and the outer sandbar. i know the water is still cold but i cant wait anymore dammit!
anybody going to be out there? or has anyone recently? any advice is much appreciated
thanks!
Welcome Deezfish! Folly surfers are reporting 54? as of this morning. Still cool but a few Whiting are possible. I don’t think they will be deep though.Stingrays are still pretty thick. Incoming tide will be good if the sun is out. My opinion, stay inside the second sandbar, small hooks, fresh shrimp.
Good Luck!

Got out there around 830 this mornin…i couldn’t get my cart over the new “moat.”
I tried the old CG station access road, but the way the sands are now you can’t get back to the open beach side. I could’ve walked my essential gear, but I didn’t trust leaving the rest in the back of my truck. So we’ll chalk this trip up as a giant SQUADOOSH. I’m sure there’s another non stairs access point somewhere, but I was too aggravated to look. I am now looking to build a fording bridge and possibly a catapult. Until that’s complete I’ll be travel with the basics next time, no cart. Until then…
deezfish, sorry to here about your bad trip. Not to be hatin’ on the “pier carts” but I would save it for the pier. I can get all my tackle in a brown paper bag. I hand carry two rods with spikes, and I’ve got one of the chairs that folds up like a back pack which I can fit, bait cooler with ice, paper bag of tackle, towel, dry clothes, snacks, couple of drinks, sun screen all on my back. Can walk for miles with it. Next time you are at Folly stop at 10th ave. east, cross the stairs, walk north a little, but not all the way to the rocks. Look for the ditch, it’s always there. Usually the Whiting are stacked up. The hole there does move some, north and south. Between 8th-12th east. But has produced tons of Whiting.
Dparker youre absolutely right. This was my first time trying my cart out there, and probably my last. I’d always used a backpack and i’m not really sure why i tried to get all complicated. i’ll modify an old hiking pack and try 10th next week.
Yeah, That was our spot. Left on E. Ashley right on10th, park on right behind stop sign, cross the street. Easy. How does the beach look with the new sand?
you really cant even tell the difference until look right up along where the houses are…then it just drops ab 6 feet. other than that it looks pretty much like it did before.
So if you take the access road on the north side of the island heading toward the inlet, you can’t get a beach cart back there? I haven’t been there before but I’m trying to get an idea of what to expect.

If you take the road you’re pretty much stuck between the last sets of rocks. You can’t go right and access the main beach anymore. The wooden wall is too high now. You can go left, but it gets pretty skinny at high tide
Not anymore…the gap between the access point and the beach is a big ditch now. Rocks on one side and couple feet deep of standing water. Then up the new sand hill. And the ramp is boarded up for “official use only.”
you can easily get a cart through the path just before the gate. walked out there a few days ago. no ditches, drop offs or any other obstructions. exactly how it was this time last year.
!!! Omg I’m an idiot I completely forgot ab that little path right before the gate! I feel like an idiot! Thanks for that reality check! Sorry if I missled anybody!
