Gave it a try solo Friday with all the wind. Yaked out baits and after about 100yds off the beach all the waves were running parallel to the beach creating a ton of drag on my line so I dropped short at like 300 wanted to go further but the drag was killing me. 1st fish after about 30 or 45 minutes about 4ft sharpnose. I had one other hit that seemed like a sharpnose and a decent hit that seemed over 5ft. I fished the incoming from like 130 to 530 just shark fishing no small baits. Ill be doing a lot of surf shark fishing this summer so expect more reports to follow. The go pro pic sucks because I took a picture of it with my phone from computer and the date is off because that was the last time I set it, which apparently I have to do every time.
I think this is pretty cool. If you put a vid of the day/process up on YouTube, I’d def give it a watch. Me and a few guys I work with are planning a shark trip from the beach in the summer. Minus the kiyak.

Look forward to seeing those pics 40. Y’all put up some big ones last year, thank you.
Good to hear someone is going out. I’m still waiting on a little bit warmer water, but I think maybe some sandbars should be around. I have two new spinning set up I am dying to fish. (Slammer 3 7500 and Van Staal vm275)
I’m gonna wait till after the 21st to go again and ill probably go that weekend once the weather gets better and stabilizes over a few days. Hopefully by then the water will be at 63 or 64 and I can put a sand tiger on the beach. I’ve never caught one.
40,
Looks like you’re paddling the bait out with it in front of you in the kayak rather than behind?

It is easier for me, it keeps all my rigs streamline so less tangles and all the tension is on the weight attached at that back. Works great for multiple rigs and big baits, my records 4 at once on a lake calm day. Usually the bait never moves even hitting all the breakers. Most people I know do it the other way but reaching and dealing with a mess behind you can get you tipped over at lot easier. This was a smallish bait.
