I will be visiting Fripp Island for the second time in two years in July. We fished last year off the pier at the end of the island and caught some small fish (no idea what they were) and some small sharks.
Any suggestions for fishing the pier?
Any suggestions for other places to fish on the island?
Any suggestions for fishing the lakes around the island / golf course?
Any suggestions for reasonably priced guides?
We have caught some beautiful fish there through the years in the surf right out front. Have also done well in and around the inlet on the south end of the island. We are usually there either earlier in the season or in the fall.

How did you fish those areas? Bottom fishing I would assume with what type of bait?

*Johnson Creek on way in around pilings. There is a extra set to the ocean side from an old bridge. Minnow on a jig head for trout and flounder.
*Or go up north end of state park where creek goes into ocean.
*Next to groins on beach at state park.
*Where lagoon feeds back in Fripp Inlet.
*The inside of the bar in the inlet between lagoon mouth and point at low tide.
*The point at south in of Hunting Island ocean side.
Flounder - trout - whiting - maybe a croaker are around area.
Best bait is live mud minnows on a jig head or on a flounder rig. Next best is fresh small pieces of fresh shrimp on 2 hook bottom rig with #4 or #6 circle hooks.

A good guide is Tim Deckard with Beaufort Castaway Charters. He lives in Port Royal, so it would be a good fit. www.beafortcastawaycharter.com
