fripp

Headed to Fripp Island thursday to Sunday… Anything I need to know? i will be targeting sharks with casted gear and whatever else decides to bite. My go-to spot is Edisto, this is my first time at Fripp. Any Advice would be appreciated

Let me know conditions, and hazards. Take lots of pictures. I plan to go soon.

I’ve fished the Hunting Island pier to the left, right before you go over the bridge to Fripp. Caught lots sharks and rays. Also an occasional red.

I was out there a couple years. Saw a few jelly fish float by then something almost jerked my rod out of the holder. Then almost everybody else on the pier experienced the same thing. There were tangled lines everywhere.
It was a huge pod of 3’ plus rays.

Afternoon storms are getting pretty hairy with the lightening. If you get caught in one put some distance between you and the water and put some distance between you and the surf rods and metal cart. My rods came with a warning that they attract lightening. No joke. Be careful folks and good luck. Cracka Lacka!!!

just read where the pier is closed because of hurricane damage

Call them I’m pretty sure a portion of the pier is back open.

I have only fished Fripp a couple of times and it has been years. If I recall the beach is very flat much like Hunting Island. If you are targeting sharks it may be a challenge getting into any deeper water with casted gear. The last time I was there we drove down to Skull Inlet (there should be parking at the end of Tarpon). Caught plenty of whiting on shrimp. No sharks that trip but it was spring.

Best of luck.

This was caught off the SW end of the island, Skull Inlet, between Prichard’s and Fripp about this time last year. Have seen a number of other reasonable aize sharks come out of there.

Skull Inlet = Flounder
