Took my son to Ft. Moultrie. I forgot to grab some frozen shrimp on the way so I was at the mercy of the mullet run, and they seemed to know how to stay just out of range of my cast net.
I caught one chubby finger mullet, so I cut him up just to stretch it out a little. Got a lot of bait stealer hits, nothing spectacular.
Watched one guy catch a juvenile black sea bass in the deep hole there by the rocks, and what seemed to be a couple of puffers (he was out on the rocks).
Lots of folks out there fishing, didn’t see much of anything else happen. Should have probably gone to the pier on the other side of the road.
And, for what it’s worth, taking a 3-4 year old boy surf fishing isn’t for the impatient. You will bring back enough sand to fill a few potholes in your driveway. Next time will be canoe or pier!! lol.
That pier is pretty productive, the only thing I have caught at those Jetties at the end of Sullivans is the occassional nice Sheep
Bragging may not bring happiness,
but no man having caught a large fish,
goes home through the alley.

Yeah the pier will be my next spot that I try if stuck on land. However next will will probably be Bushy Park in the canoe.

nothing swims in that area anyway
i caught a 4 foot dusky there and missed a run that night but other than that a whiting here and there is all ive ever gotten in that spot.
are you all fishing structure or just casting into no~mans land?
My preferred place, if there are any spots open, is to fish along any of the rocks out there.
