Went out saturday knowing good and well it was full moon and tides were extremely high and winds were out of NE figured it was going to suck and it pretty much did. Took a buddy who been surf fishing for 30 years, had great spot, plenty of bars, fresh caught mullet and we tried our best for 8 hrs. We can control allot but cant control Mother Nature nothing was biting at all, nothing. The days tally was not great considering all. 1 30 inch red ,2 lady,1spot,1 drum,1blue,1whiting,1 stingray, 1 shark bite off and thats it. We still enjoyed ourselves none the less. I’ll get um next time, learned a few things and had some fun. Water was very dirty and full of grass.
Good looking Red! We fished IOP Sat. High tide falling in the morning. Current was pulling hard. Took 6oz to hold, barly. Fished 7hrs. 10-average Whiting, 1-Blue, 1- Ray and 2-Seagulls. The Bluefish were cleaning the Red rods off. Would have moved some, had some folks at “The Spot”. Didn’t look like they caught much either. Did the Red bite cut Whiting? Looks like they are starting to move in some.
“There’s a fine line between fishing and standing in the surf like an idiot.”
Mr. Parker, wish I had those 10 whiting I couldnt catch diddily, It was a tuff day for sure, literally fought tooth and nail for what little bit fish we got, My buddy landed the red, was nice and stout for a 30, on cut blue, he uses a double rig like yourself and landed all fish except for 1 lady. I knew it would be slow but I figured I would do better than that. I did walk away with some knowledge which I guess is more valuable than a fish. How did you manage those seagulls did they get caught in line? Im keeping an eye on those full moon, high dirty water tides they have not been good for me and NE winds on top of it , gotta own the bad days too . Humble pie. .
most of mullet were tiny and soft
