Fished just to the north of the Hole today with all star angler Curt Lee and crew. Found a little edge with some good fishing on it. Ended up with 16 Dolphins, 3 Kings, a few Cudas and AJ’s, a Blackfin and a YELLOWFIN!
Man, gr8 report, i can’t wait to get some yellow fin on this boat this year… may have to go close to NC, but need to boat one this year… thanks for keeping the hope alive…
Captain, nice catch. Are you sure the tuna was not a juvenile bigeye? In my experience, yellowfins and bigeyes are almost indistinguishable at certain growth points. I will not insult you by asking you to confirm it was not a blackfin.
I have not heard of catching a yelowfin this late in the summer. The water is simply too hot for them.GW 232 GULF Yam225
i beg to differ… june WAS the perfect time to fish for them when they frequented our waters… i remember planning trips specifically in june to catch yellowfin… dont make me post pictures:stuck_out_tongue:
Pictures Please! How is the Full Pull the ONLY boat in SC that has caught a yellowfin tuna? I think somebody needs some glasses, or a fish identification booklet.

gotta get em’ with the kee-kee run…
Good Lord x 2.
Luckyspur… Do you think that all of the boats that fish offshore post their reports on CF? Do you doubt many seasoned and respected charter captns. on their stories to their faces? Do you think they are the only boat that has caught a YFT this year? ( I admit not many have.)
I/we caught 20ish YFT’s between 70 and 150 lbs 2 days before Katrina out of Venice and the water temp was 91f… I know the gulf schools are a lil different as far as what they do, but still…
Knowing Big E and JWF, I am sure it was not an YFT! Just wishfull thinking and posting crap here for all of us who can’t go fishing so we can sit here on our computers and talk smack!
No way there are any YFT’s, the water is too hot! And on top of that, they lie! They have beat me on 2 side bets and I know they “Semi” lied so he could win! Anything for a “FULL PULL”!
Water to hot??? Thats some funny ■■■■■. Someone needs to tell those YFT’s they catch in La. offshore waters in July/August in 85 degree water that it’s to hot and they need to pack up and head north…hahaha.
May be I was wrong when posted “The water is simply to hot”, but when I’ve talked to a marine biologist a year or so ago about less and less YFT around our coast, he attributed it to the surface water temperature changes to the warm side. Didn’t mean to mislead.
