Funky fishing clothes

Even after my fishing clothes have been through the wash they still have a faint fish smell to them. I thought it was my imagination at first but then my wife told me she washed a shirt 3 times to get the smell out. I was like “no way, your kidding me right”. I don’t no if anyone else has had this problem and has a solution? I wonder if I should get some of those foul weather pants with the bib built in and just hose them off at the end of the day?

I use some of that oxy clean stuff on fish clothes and it takes allmost all the blood out and haven’t noticed any fishy smell on them afterwards. Now my hands, that’s a different story after cleaning a bunch of fish, usually takes 5 or 6 times washing them in lemon juice to get smell out and man does it sting in cuts!

Toothpaste on your hands gets rid of the fishy smell.

Sanford in 2012!

I’ll try the oxy clean stuff. If that dosen’t work I’m going with the foul weather bibs…at least for the winter anyway.

Lemon Juice- works every time. Soak em’ in a bucket or something if they are super fishy with warm water and lemon juice.
But I have a question…How the heck do I get fish blood out of my clothes? Tried oxy stuff and “shout” but it didn’t work…

TideStick seems to get smaller blood stains for me.
The guys at Ripley Light Drystack put me on “Totally Awesome” spray cleaner from DollarTree. $1.00 plus tax; gets the blood stains off boats and your clothes, and got my own bloodstain out of my shirtsleeve – had a scratch and bled on the inside of the sleeve. This stuff got it all. hope this helps, NaClH20

Formula 409 spray works really well on blood and grease on your clothes. Spray the stain with the 409 and let sit for a minute or two, then wash normally. Also use a dry detergent over liquid for tough stains.

Here a solution, buy a bag and put your fishing clothes in it,then use it when you go fishing!!Dumbass

Form some reason, I kinda “like” the fish smell on my hands the next day. ???

“Mess with me and you mess with the whole trailer park!”

■■■■ gtown you’re rough man! Call me preppy if you will, but I prefer not to go around smelling like old, dead fish myself. Not to mention I may want to wear those same clothes other than fishing.

***dorado, the best thing to take out fish, smoke, musty smell, or any other odor from your clothes is white vinegar. Just add a 1/2 cup (small load), or 1 cup (large load) to the wash and it will be gone. They won’t smell like vinegar either.

Peroxide! Ask any lady…

smells like victory, where them clothes out

Try one of the no scent deer hunter laundry detergents. I wash out the inside of my hunting boots with it every year. Works for me.

I keep my fish and puss clothes all in the same bag, smells the same to me!

try GOOF OFF; my wife uses this product on all of my grass stained, greasy or fishing clothes. works wonders.

by the way; stopped by a beauty shop the other day and they obviously fish a lot also. LOL

Ah, yes, it had to get around to that . . .
I remember being a young, newly-wed 2/lt navigator on a SAC tanker crew. We had to go on 7 day alerts - - I would not wash my hands for at least the first two days, didn’t want to erase the memories.

Thanks for all the ideas guys. As for gtownrat, I don’t appreciate being called a dumbass. If we are going to exchange pleasantries I would prefer to do it in person!!!

keep a bar of lye soap on the boat --its good for washing your hands to get any smell off of them (including gas)–it also works well for clothes if you want to go through the trouble of grating some up to put in the wash --or you can use borax to wash your clothes to remove smells and stains
