gigging lights

i am using 100w bulbs that are about 2 years old. my question is, do the bulbs “dim” over time or as long as they are working are they still putting out the same amount of light as new ones do?

All incandescent light “age” over time. The filaments do not burn as brightly. Not sure how much light is lost…

Now y’all listen to wildlightsc cause he knows llights His gigging boat looks like the center float at a cinco de mayo parade in Mexico. The only thing missing was a piata. Word is hes been banned from some areas cause the lights interfear with the landing lights at the air station.

Wildlifesc powers his giggin lights with an extension cord run to his shed.

NN, let me thank you again for that security light you donated to my cabin in TN. Works great.

I have been known to drive all the way to the ramp pullin’ drop cords and garden hoses. I guess I was trolling for lawn care.

i am just using 2 marine batteries

I went and gave this gigging business a try, NADA. No luck for me, I was doing this at the slack high tide time. So is this a high tide or low tide affair. Conditions were perfect. Glassy and clear water. I was by the Broad river bridge using the trolling motor up againt the grass and didn’t see anything. Should I be closer to the structure such as oysters bars and rakes.

yo

i generally go on the last of outgoing and the beginning of the incoming tide. i look for an oyster and mud bottom.

I’m no gigger but all the flounder I’ve seen while shrimping were at low incoming before the water is in the grass. Maybe some gigging pro will weigh in.

thanks gents, I figure the first incoming tide would be good since they will start to move towards the grass line. It was fun though, I think i travel 3 miles on the trolling motor

yo

Incoming or outgoing closer to low tide…outgoing is a little harder to see because of the murky water draining back out…but lower tide you’ll have better luck.

Boatless…

thanks will try my luck soon.

The best tide for gigging is High Tide… try using black lights, the flounder glow like they were scribbled on with a highlighter!
