Gigging the Folly

Decided last minute to drive down to Folly from Columbia to try a little gigging. I wind up coming to Folly a few times a year and do pretty well but since im not in jepordy of giving up my “secret spot” I’ll try and fill you in the best I can. The wind was horrible and the water was extremely cloudy. A friend and I ended up with 6 keepers with the largest around 3 pounds. Nothing really to brag about but I did run into another boat at the landing that had 17…I can honestly say, one the flounders they had was the largest I have ever seen in person. All in all there were about 5 boats at the landing and all of us except for the “speacial one” had around 2-7 fish.

The only advice I was given at the landing was to look in the ditches…thought I would share

Good going on a windy night! Btw…I love the avator…showed it to Donnie and he said…don’t go getting any ideas…if it were up to you I’d come home to find one over our bed…

Hey…do you think they might make them that wide!

Nice you gig by boat or walk the shore?

By boat cdwigg…Thanks Penfish, I had that t top for sale and everyone was acting crazy about “making it work for there boat” so I decided to keep it and make the grill for the back deck! Tell Donnie I do have some fiberglass tops wide enough to go over your bed if you would like. I could prob even get ya some cool LED’s to go in it to set the mood…

Palmetto,

You gotta post a picture of your giggin’ boat. It’s the coolest giggin’ rig I’ve ever seen!

Trooper, sent you pm

That is a nice gigging skiff!

Real skiffs have tillers :o)

My greatest catch was also a release.

That is a nice set up. Did you do the work on the deck and lights or buy as is?
I went the other night for the first time in twenty years and only got one, but the bug has bitten. I will be doing more!

This Is what it looked like when I purchased it. I did all the welding and fabricating my self.

Great now there will be 20 boats there.

nice rig though

I give to this site what it gives to me. I’ve gained A Lot knowledge through these members and figured I would show the same respect. Just because there is 20 boats at the landing doesn’t mean there are 20 boaters who know what there doing.

To get everyone away from folly…These were caught off Sullivans

Nice report with and awesome rig and some nice flatties. Thanks for sharing.

fish nude so u can show off ur pole…

Nice boat! I left you a voicemail the other day about the poling platform. And good report!

There is no greater fan of fly fishing than the mud minnow.

Trooper, I sent you a PM

Palmetto - are those 12v or 120v lights you have mounted? Really nice rig, well done.

I need to put some new lights on my boat this year and am debating the cost for a generator vs. the ease of install of the 12V since I already have the batteries in place.

Thanks

i hear you there!!! ive been helped a lot from members on this site so if i can answer a question to help others i will. however ive had several people out and about ask me if i was the guy that got a big redfish at sullivans and had plenty of people recognize me on base for all the redfish, trout, and flounder i put up and have learned the hard way in the past back home what happens when countless people learn too many details so much of my material ill post is subject to be edited

You’re the first one in this year posting giggin trip… Here we go again…
