Going fishing tomorrow...

Hope to have a report…

This board seems to have died a horrible, excruciating death.

Not dead, just hibernating  Good luck!

I just made a contribution to the board, and a (**() fine one I might add

If you’re lucky enough to be fishing, you’re lucky enough.

You’re right about hibernating. I have not even had a chance to get the boat in the water since Christmas. This winter has been horrible.

Good luck tomorrow Jim - just don’t be texting me any dang pictures. As for the tide - it was screaming today. Better weather can’t be too far - I have a few blooms on one of my azaela(sp)plants.

Where are you? I have had the binos propped in the window watching for you. Hope you have a good day.

Well…left the ramp to a beautiful, slick, calm morning. I was taking two very nice Spartanburg folks, a man and his son, who bid on and won my trip I give away every year at the May Spartanburg Hampton Wildlife Fund Banquet.

Spent most of the am looking for fish. Fished from top of the tide to mid-tide before catching the first 15" red. Stayed there for 45 min hoping for more…but nada. Moved to another drop and nada. That high 7’+ tide, coupled with a minus 1.5’ low, had the water muddy in St. Helena.

Finally hit a drop I hadn’t fished lately and they were there and hungry. Hit 5 in a row, but in 25 minutes it was all over. Biggest was 25" the rest slot fish.

From there we tried one more drop, but tide was waaaay down at -1.5, so we rode to Morgan Is. looking for the monkeys on a sightseeing detour, but the monkeys didn’t come out and play.

All in all a decent, not good day, but good to be on the water. Both men caught their first redfish and were excited…they vowed to buy my trip again this May, so I felt pretty good.

I learn every time I’m out, but I think I learned yesterday that I would NEVER be a guide! My stomach was so darn nervous all day hunting fish that I had trouble settling down last night! Fishing’s supposed to be fun!

Glad to see some lurkers posting! Nice ride and even nicer restoration SurfFishLife! I was there tanksgt!

Guiding is like fishing Wildlife, the good days more than make up for the tough days. However, when you hit a spot that a couple of days before on the same tide situation is empty then you start to question your sanity. The worst situation is to take a couple of hours to find a nice school of fish and then have them refuse to eat. Especially when they were chomping the day before. Thank goodness for Dolphins, my comment is the Dolphins must have them spooked and off we go to look for another school.

LOL Coach!

You can have the guiding. I’ll stick to giving away a trip for Harry Hampton & one for the March of Dimes. My nerves & stomach can’t take the stress!

How bout I take you out on my boat some time? No stress, no pressure. If we don’t do well I don’t care! I’d be happy just learning from the master!

Sure Afish…if we wait til the weather settles down! But I’m no master…that’s for sure!

Here’s the pic of the son with his first redfish Sunday…

Nice! He knows how to hold a fish for a photo

I “coached” him.

I know that spot! I think I may have caught that same fish. Blair caught him too. Jim has him trained (the fish, not g8r).
