hey yall i need some input on fishing the 4KI reef. in a couple of weeks when i get back home from school my grandad want to take his boat a little ways offshore and try some reef fishing. Hes an old school creek guy. was wondering if it would be a good idea to troll from the mouth of north edisto to the reef for spanish and then try for spadefish once we got there. And was wonderin if anyone has any luck with the kings around that reef or anything else like amberjacks or big sharks. Mainly want to keep the lines tight on this trip so hell be more willing to go out. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I wouldn’t troll for the spanish unless you see them or birds working them.I would highly recommend taking some fiddlers and fish for sheepshead along with whatever else you’re fishing with as they were doing pretty good a week ago. I didn’t see any spanish there last time I went, but when they’re on the reef even if you don’t see em,try live finger mullet fished 10’,20’&30’ under a balloon or cork. There’s plenty of jelly-balls for the spades but don’t know if they’re biting as I don’t fish for them.
You can’t catch fish on a dry line
