Good Day At Demetre Park

Haven’t been able to fish for almost 3 weeks now, work and wife’s sister was in the hospital. Went to Demetre Park this past Sunday. Fished all the way from low tide to an hour before high. Nice score on the day- 7 keeper whiting all 1 lb. plus, 1 black drum 17", 2 trout 15 and 18", and an overslot red about 28", Mix in some rays, and small whiting and croaker/spot that were thrown back, and the fishing was almost nonstop.

I was out there Sunday, what time were you there?

Fished early AM, from after 6 till 10:30-11. Super low tide almost one foot below normal after the flood tide the previous night. Have had good luck in the past during these tides.

I have been out there at least 3 days a week for the last few weeks. I usually go in the evenings though after work. Should meet up out there sometime.

Yep, I have met 3 or 4 other CF members out there before, was going out once every week or so but have gotten too busy with family/work. Live in Summerville so a bit of a drive for me. I will let you know next time I can get out there, prob not this weekend, maybe next.

My GF has a family with young children that gives her a place to say for low rent and they have been hounding her about going fishing. I think I want to take them there since it’s pretty close to their house.

Can I fish from the beach along these rocks? https://goo.gl/maps/pgL7f

I just want them to catch anything really. Pin fish and small sharks will likely keep them occupied.

I take my kids fishing there quite a bit. I just put a small weight, a tiny hook and a piece of shrimp and pinfish, croaker, and whiting all day long.

Yep, the beach in front of the rocks has always produced for me. Some of the most beautiful views in all of Charleston County from this park as well, that enough is worth a visit.

Do you have any pictures of the area…from Blythewood and haven’t fished there…

I went out here once so far, fished from the point itself from low to mid tide but came up empty. I am new to the area and ocean fishing in general (grew up fishing fresh water). What suggestions as to tides, bait, rigs, lures to use to fish this area? I am aiming to go back soon and would love to hook into some sea trout.

I am thinking about trying this spot again Saturday morning. Anyone interested? I have been a few times this year and have had moderate luck.

I use 2 or 3 rods with different rigs, for redfish I use a Carolina Rig with circle hook. Use live finger mullet or cut mullet chunks. For trout try a popping cork with live shrimp. Mud minnows work as well. I have been tearing up the trout this year from the park, caught 2 15-17" last Sunday. Wont be able to make it this weekend but will try for next.

Will get by sooner or later to fish, agree about the views, cant be beat.

I’ll be out there this weekend. Report to come… Fish On…

Might try this evening if no rain, will give a report.

Fished last night from the pier for about an hour, just some small whiting and bluefish, others on the pier about the same. Saw a guy and others on the beach by the rocks, dont know what they caught.

I have Friday off so will be down there in the morning, let me know if anyone wants to join.

I was there from around 8 to 11:30 this morning, I got nothing but croaker, using both shrimp and cut mullet. I biked there and back from my house near camp&folly intersection, not trying that again until it cools off
