I am bringing the wife and kids down for a couple of days next weekend. My family is originally from Beaufort and I spent most of my childhood Summers down there. I have not been down in a few years so I was wondering if any Beaufortonians could help me out with some decent places for lunch/dinner? Not into fancy but looking for some decent food and reasonable prices.
Thanks!

i like Emily’s downtown. i think it is by far the best price / quality in Beaufort.
for thai papaya’s is fantastic. their drinks are excellent too.
if you want munchies and bar, bricks is hard to beat. the apps are the best around especially the buffalo oysters. meals are pretty good too, but when we go, its for apps and beer.
Great food on the cheap, with daily specials (Not open for lunch Mondays) and with what I think is the best burger in town is The Back Porch at Port Royal Landing Marina. Very consistent…very casual and you can sit looking out on Beaufort River when the weather is nice for lunch or dinner. The other places mentioned are good too. Also Moondoggies in Port Royal is very nice and a little more upscale than Back Porch. Good luck…
Wildlife and others I agree.are good. Want a special treat go out to Johnson Creek Tavern on Harbor Island just before the bridge to Hunting Island. Great food, great setting
Dang, forgot about the Shrimp Shack. Haven’t eaten there in years. Good to hear it is still open. May have to stay an extra day to try all of these places.

Come winter time I tend to get a little gut from lack of activity! My wife told me it looked as if I was going to give birth! I asked her when was the last time she look over her shoulder and saw what was following her around! Wrong thing to say:imp:

One secret lunch place…ssssshhhhhh. On right…just before you get to Boondocks heading toward Harbor, Hunting & Fripp. Been reopened by some locals serving great food with lots of soul! MJ’s…you will be very glad you stopped in.
