FINALLY back in Charleston for the year. It’s been too long. Heading out to IOP in a bit to fishing the changing tides. I fished the inlet last time I went out, so I want to change it up a bit. Was wondering if anyone had any words of wisdom pertaining to good spots on the surf.
On IOP I would get away from the inlet and fish near Wild Dunes side. Or go fish the buoy at Fort Moultrie on Sullivans.

I picked a bad day to come out. Crazy windy, and the water is just too choppy. It would just sweep my bottom rig away. I’ll have to try again next week.

Without knowing your set-up. Maybe lighter line and more weight. I have often used 5-7 oz. to stay put. Sputnik/ spider sinkers will hold as well, I don’t use them, but they should hold the bottom. Also a little trick of mine…follow the current find out where it’s goin’.
AND WAIT A WEEK! I would go crazy!
I concur with recommendation to fish the Wild Dune side of IOP. It can be a hike to good spots if you cant access the resort.
A few weeks back, I fished the incoming tide at the north end of IOP, in front of 18th fairway, with success. I fished cut mullet and pulled in a few 2 -3 foot sharks (would post pix if I was technically savvy); fresh shrimp and frozen squid brought in whiting, croaker and a lot of shark pups.
The sandbar just off the beach was like a superhighway for fish between beach and sandbar. Don’t cast beyond it. My success rate dropped when I moved around the bend to fish more in Dewees Inlet.
