Got my USCG Captain credentials...

Worked for a bit this past year to get my Captain’s license. Just received word from Coast Guard MMC that my 100 Ton Master credentials are in the mail! Going to take my passion for boating and turn it into Career V2.0. -Captain Coats

Hey DillyD,Congrats and wish you great success…:smiley::smiley::smiley::smiley::sunglasses::sunglasses::sunglasses::sunglasses::sunglasses::sunglasses:

Just remember that its about entertainment! Keep it all safe and if they have a great time they will re-book with you!

Good job young man! Good luck with your new carrier!

PS: Be advised! I do/will pay a finder’s fee for bonafide Captain’s work.

For some folks it's about filling a cooler, they could care less If you make them laugh. Ask Fred.

After being released, a lot of fish die, but a lot of them live also.

Captain, congrats. If I may ask, what were the requirements to get this license?

Huck

Good for you. Enjoy making a living taking people fishing. Better than selling them something they don’t need. Time spent fishing doesn’t count on days used up.

What size/kind of boats are you experienced on DD?

The for hire license is for specific species groups, snapper/grouper, coastal pelagics, dolphin/wahoo, HMS, and are issued to a specific vessel, not just to a captain. As long as you can find a vessel that has permits you should be OK. Otherwise hope the council does not take this action.

Did you know commercial licenses are not available already? You have to buy out two existing license holders before you can apply for one, at a cost starting at about $20,000 each.

Duh been that way for years.

Sul: So my big water experience for Master was a 60’ Hatteras where I was 1st Mate for a year in Cabo San Lucas, Puerto Vallarta up thru Huntington Beach. We ran some fishing and tour guide back when Cabo was for po’ dunk fisherman only and there was only a dinghy dock. Since then I’ve done SC offshore fishing as mate and coordinated dive charters as SSI Master Diver… probably about 300 dives off of SC? Most on wrecks and live bottom near the Charleston 60. Only had one dude get bent during that time.
Huck: Check out “requirements 100 Ton Master credential” and several lists will pop up at ya. The time you spend on boats is the biggest factor.

Just for fun I walked the dock at CHS Marina last eve handing out cards. So many bee u t ful yachts there! All moving South… just spending the night. I should be doing deliveries if all works out on top of the local guide work. Stay tuned… more to come.

And THANKS to all you well wishers out there! I learned a lot from CF.com about inshore fishing.

Best of luck to you dd. Sounds like sand monkey won’t be much help. I guess he assumes everyone is as knowledgeable as he is.

You & everyone else has 100ton license. Most insurance companies of any decent size yacht require at least 200 or 500t licenses. A

Get experience with the 100 ton class and move up! No bubbles busted! Poly Ball seems too negative.

I see Capt Fritz mentioned filling coolers, what kind of charters you looking at doing?

“live and let live” … “those that deserve it.”

You are clueless.

Great Job Dilly Dally!

Why Bruce?.. the ramblings of a disillusioned Hillary supporter.

I believe Fred could witness trump pissing on an old homeless lady, and he’d tell him he’s doing a hell of a job, really soaking her.
