Be aware! Someone cut our phone lines, turned off the main power breaker, broke through a window on the front porch and stole a flat screen tv. They knew we had a securiy system and knew how to get around it. Funny thing is we had the carpets cleaned yesterday. Never had a problem in 6+ years.

Our house is on the 1200 block. I feel confident that it wasn’t the carpet cleaning folks after we’ve done some research, but from there I don’t have a clue. Hopefully it is an isolated incident and not a new trend we’re about to see in Edisto, but everyone needs to stay on the lookout.

I suggest you get a cell phone back up for your alarm. Many alarms have their own dedicated line but in the case like yours, cut lines kill the line. A cut line just gives a dead signal to the monitor station…
Don’t know any details yet, but I heard that two other homes got broken into and only thing taken in each was the flat screen tv’s. I think these were beachfront homes around Point street. Watch out!
Silent alarm with cellular back-up is the way to catch the thugs. You want them caught, not scared away. Hopefully the resident officer(s) there aren’t on a traffic stop ( 36 in a 35 zone!).
