Gotta luv fall in the Lowcountry!

To quote G8rnsc, that is, who cancelled at the last minute due to that ugly word…work!

Went out at 8:30 to find trout. 1st eleven shrimp caught 10 trout. I kept four, including the pair of 18" fish below. After water got muddy, moved to a point and caught a nice 24" bass and some undersized trout. Moved down to another point and caught two nice bass. Eased up to a long point during the last 30 minutes of incoming…and spotted 15 tails up! Tried everything but only got swirls…no hookups.

Moved to another spot and caught 5 slot bass in a row on shrimp, then switched to Gulps and proceeded to catch around thirty…most 16" to 20" slot fish with a 25 1/2 and a 26 1/2 to boot. Only wanted Gulps.

Left the fish biting and tried another drop…caught two slotties on Gulp, then called it a day.

Nice fish Jim and thanks for the pics too!! I gotta find out how to fish with Gulps though. I think we’re really limiting ourselves the way we’ve just been using shrimp under corks?

We got a couple of hour later start than you but still were hitting the trout pretty good (I thought until I saw your report!). We probably hit about a dozen trout on the first drop with that many shrimp and put four (15’s and 16’s) in the cooler. The rest of the day was pretty sporadic-ended up with 6 trout for the freezer and finally ran out of bait about 4 and called it quits. Not sharks or rays this time either!

Oh yeah-I was was out on top of the keeper/catch this time!!!

Sounds like you had a good day of fishing… Those trout will taste good I know from experience.

All I did, Dadfsr, was use the same Cajun cork rig I use with live shrimp and hook a 3" Gulp shrimp through the tip. Don’t thread it on the hook…place the barb thru the tip and let it dangle on the hook. And keep poppin’ that cork!

Do you use circle hooks with the Gulps Jim?

The only circle hooks on Jim’s boat belong to me. Hooks are the only old technology he uses. Then again it works…fair. Looks like he took the pics in his shower…

As Jig pointed out, I use Kahle hooks. I can never get over the urge to set the hook…hard!

Jim, tried the rock pile we discussed at Sam’s. No luck for me. Next chance you have give it a shot. Least I will know if it’s me or the fish! Ha Good fishing
