I have a Garmin GPS 498 that will not aquire satelites. Does anyone know of a local repair man in Bluffton,Hilton Head, Beaufort?

I have a 492 (same model). It did that to me one time and I eventually figured it out. How long have you had it?

Often times a software update will fix that. I have an older 440s that was acting up. Once it lost bottom at speed it would not regain it unless I powered it down. I updated it and since then, its been fine.

If you look it says 3.10-3.30 was a patch to help acquire satellite in older units. If you need help on updating it, PM me and I will give you my number. I can walk you through it, its pretty easy.

Thanks for input. I contacted Garmin and was able to reset unit. Works fine now.
