Grace got to go fishing

My dog Grace has been getting a little “fussy,” for lack of a better word. Pouting and stomping her feet around the house cause daddy hasn’t taken her out, so it was time to soak some bait. We headed out for a day of fun. Right off the rip we were lucky to get to see a manatee at the landing. We pushed forward and needed to round up some bait in the cast net, so I hit a few impoundments trying to get a few fishes. In the beginning we landed a bunch of small spots, a small sheepshead, and 2 reds in the cast net. I wanted to find a few mullet so I tried my secret spot that I frequently put the sneak on the mullet on the very back of an impoundment that I have to trek through allot of tall grass to get too. I have a 6-7 ft gater that likes to bask in the sun in the grass, so I tread carefully so I don’t suddenly find myself surprising the old gal and interrupting her nap. I didn’t see her so i made my way to the hole in the back. I could see the mullet bedded up and so I put the sneak attack on and was lucky enough to land a few. The gater showed herself as I was leaving and started to slam a few fish of her own just across the water near the other bank. It was pretty cool. Bait in hand we made the long haul out to a point bordering an inlet. The water was dumping into the inlet so hard that my lines were just blowing back in as soon as I casted them out and this went on for a few hours. Dam near impossible to fish. The weeds were thick as well. I knew the only chance I had was going to be waiting it out and hoping for a change in conditions, so we just did our best. Later in the day things leveled off once the water filled in good and we could now get our lines to stay put. I threw out a few bait rods with squid and got a few whiting and a bunch of the tiny sharks. Deployed some heavier rods with cut bait hoping for a red. Landed about 5 3ft sharks that helped provide a little action. Worked the beach up and down and couldn’t catch a red for the best of me. It was getting late and just before having to go and Grace

Looks like RBF is pro trade, but just so you know RBR is an excellent negotiator. If I feel like it’s not an even swap, I will walk away. No deal is better than a bad deal
