Grace says hello!

Long time no post. Just thought I’d give a shout out to my brothers from CF. The winter dull drums have set in, what have y’all been up to? I’ve been trying to pass the long lay over with preparation for the up and coming season. I’ve dropped off the reels in need of servicing at Haddrels, and have got Steve fine tuning them. He also works on rods, and has replaced the chewed up corking with a new x-wrap that has them looking like new. They use a shrink wrap process that goes over the existing damaged cork and should prove to be more durable. He does a fine job, and it’s worth noting. It ran about 25 dollars per rod and looks great. I’m studying my craft and filling the many holes in my game, trouble shooting areas where I’m not so good, and need improvement. In a couple more weeks the scouting process will begin for me and I’m going to take a walk to my usual spots to check them out, hopefully they look good. I will also walk the beach looking for new areas trying to find structure that may hold fish. Grace and I need to get our fat asses back in shape, we ain’t spring chickens any more. I will also take some time and make a boat load of rigs and have them in my liter bag ready to roll. Last year my history shows the first outing on March 12 with Mr. Parker, was a slow day. He caught a couple and I pulled my sole goose egg of the season. The beginning will be slow, but will steadily improve. I really enjoyed meeting some of you last year, and hope to build upon that. We truly are blessed to be able to do what we do. Every time I walk out onto the beach with rod in hand, I cherish the moment and understand what a blessing it is to live In S.C. God be with you all, Pete and Grace.

There are still fish out there in the winter time. I’ve been thinking of putting some lines in at folly in hopes of a bruiser, I’ve been getting a feeling or it may just be an itch. Wednesday looks like a nice opportunity, but I might go shad fishing at the dam. Its a toss though because if the surf is real calm I want to paddle out a long line with a few hooks on it just to see what’s out there. But if I go shad fishing I want to get up there in the early am so I cant really check the surf before. I’ve been doing some inshore and the sheeps and drums are biting. If you get on a rock groin I’m sure they are there.

Good to hear from y’all. I’m itching to 40, may going to need to get out and give her a try.

Pete , I’d bet a few hrs on the beach would change the expression
on gracies face:smiley::smiley::smiley:BTW hows her recovery going??good i hope:smiley:

Grace looks great!

I have been trying to get back out since before Christmas!!! :angry: I think next year I’m gonna skip the holidays, :dizzy_face: so I can fish more! :stuck_out_tongue: For sure I WILL be on the beach this coming up weekend, chest waders buckled and toboggan pulled down tight. Not expecting a bruiser but the Rays should be thick.

…and Kahlua-Hershey says hello back.

Mr. Parker and Gail Grace is doing so-so. I expect the other back leg to blow at some point 50/50 chance. She is limping some, which concerns me. If we have to fix it, we have to fix it. Total cost for both legs…6,500.00:angry: We will do what we have to, she ain’t going down. David if your game for a scout/ray day I’ll holler at you in the next week or two. Hell if you want to we can hit the docks/pipes/impoundments/back side. Time to work out the kinks, knock off the rust, and get the band back together. Great to hear from Kahlua!!!

Pete glad to hear from you we all are feeling the same itching to get out there… I still need to re-spool my line to mix it out on all my reels so that the fresh line will be used this year and round it up again…Waiting on some report from the surf to really go out there…
