Some of you are a bunch of jack wagons. Do you actually think DNR is gonna hunt ya down for holding a sailfish out of water for a photo.
Just because you say you caught that fish off the coast, DNR would have to actually prove that, near impossible to do.

Here’s my story:
“We tried to revive it but it didn’t respond. I guess the long fight with the light tackle just done it in. We finally brought it in the boat and took a few photos before we iced it. It really made some good steaks.”
Now tell me how DNR or anybody else is gonna prove anything different. Most of the laws like that one are about as worthless as the paper they were written on. It is almost unenforceable. The whole “jist” of the law is to let people know it is a bad idea to remove the fish from the water.
So far it has done what they intended. Most folks do the photos with the fish along side the boat, as they should.
Well by all means fellas…id love to encourage y’all to post away…

sailfish regs are created by NMFS, so breaking them is a federal offense, enforcement notwithstanding. if i had my HMS permit and it was over 63", i’d smoke one. (thanks stillalive, guess you can tell i don’t get out for billfish)
florida boy, as you’re a professional risk assessor, go ahead and keep assuming that breaking laws will work out in your favor, then later you might want to ask the guy who got a ticket a couple years ago for posting a picture of himself holding an obviously dead sandbar. they won’t track you down… how would they even find your phone num… oh, yeah.
Relax, at least in the US almost everyone releases them, that was a huge win for the fish.
