Great visit, except for Sea Pines security

Just got back from our week in Sea Pines. We didn’t catch much except for “hot dog” sharks but had a great time. The only negative was the Sea Pines security. When we arrived at the Welcome Center pulling our deck boat you would of thought it was vats of nuclear waste. Guy gave me a very hard time about the boat, demanded to know WHY we were bringing it in and if we had made an appointment to launch at South Beach. (Which South Beach later told me is not even something they do.) And the whole time he is sighing and shaking his head like, how could I have the nerve to bring a boat to Sea Pines.

Proceed 100 yards to security gate and it starts all over with the next guy. I roll down the window and say hello and he just points at the boat and says, “What is THAT?” So here we go again and this guy makes sure to tell me that basically if the wheels of the trailer ever stop moving while inside his gate, we will be towed immediately.

I mean, I understand that these guys have a job to do but their attitudes are just the worst.

Part of the job IS being courteous. If you got his name you should write a complaint letter to Sea Pines management.
Did you get the boat in the water and use it for the week?

Yes, we launched at South Beach Marina around 7:30 Saturday evening which was an adventure given the crowds. Docked at our condo in the back of Braddock Cove and had a great time exploring the Sound when the wind would allow. Ran the back side of Daufuskie down to Ramshorn & a little ways into the Wright River (I think) … OK maybe we were lost but it turned out to be a pretty area & now I know the back way to Savannah …

Sorry about the hassle at the gate. Security in Sea pines is run by CSA, bacically the POA- not Sea Pines Resort. They are very strict about boats/trialers parked in yards and driveways. A simple explanatin you were launching at South Beach shoud have sufficied. . I will forward this concern to both CSA and Sea Pines and hopefully someone will get back to you from CSA.
