Great White on Friday

Wasn’t a monster, but great to see.

How far offshore do you have to get this time of year to find sharks? Your YouTube posts are driving my kid insane, and hence, driving me insane, BTW.

All things being equal, I would rather be on the water.

you have even made the news channel at moms down in West Palm Beach, FL… which had her call me and tell me careful if i go out…

thanks,

Awesome that you got to film and tag the shark…

Still crazy to believe we have so many off our coast! Evidently they really don’t care for human meat. That or they are too stuffed with breeder spot tail and flipper.

I remember something from the turn of the century about a great white attack, but that is very questionable.

Cool stuff for sure.

Curious as to what you use to target this species?? I’m guessing they will come closer to shore than tigers when the waters cool?

Thanks,
NN

Thanks fellas, I appreciate it

Dan,
Thats hilarious, Im glad he enjoys them! In the warmer months, they’re all pretty close in. The sounds and reefs hold some monsters. This time of year, they’re all pretty much gone. The only sharks around in the winter are dogfish and an occasional white. In April they move back in.

cj5,
I can’t believe it went all the way down there. Thats too funny it triggered a phone call from family. Thanks buddy!

Fred,
Yeah, our state has one great white attack on record and its from the 1800’s. They said it was in Charleston Harbor, was fatal. But you’re right…probably a bull or tiger.

Double,
Thanks! Using big big bait. When you have a mouth bigger than a 5 gallon bucket, you’re not looking for sea bass. Tiger sharks come in much closer than whites, at least thats what I’ve found. They just prefer different times of the year.

You do know that Mary Lee pinged just off Morgan Island! There were some pings as well in the CHarleston Harbor, but they disappeared. Reason given was error, I say panic control.

Fred,
I remember that. I also remember a dolphin washing up on a beach up there that was bitten in half the day after it pinged in St Helena. Mary Lee has swam around the mouth of Port Royal a couple of times, too. I think we’d all have a coronary if we knew how many travel in these sounds in the winter.
