Not fishing is killing me! Here is one of the highlights of last seasons fishing trips.
We were bottom fishing for ‘the endangered’ Black Sea Bass about 16 miles from Murrells Inlet, when we had a visitor. At first, we were in shock! No troubles identifying the shark as a Great White - no stripes, long nose, and the best shot of his killer eye didnt make it on film.
We fed him all of our endangered BSB to keep him occupied for the film.
Out there all alone on a Wednesday afternoon makes you wonder who the real ‘hunter’ was…he wasnt afraid to hang around the boat - perhaps he was looking at us as his dinner???
Anyone still interested in diving off of the coast?
Who was it that said 'let’s gaff it"? Must of been smokin something … [:0]
It always seems like a cool idea until that first split second that the gaff touches the fish. I have free gaffed a number of MUCH smaller fish. They get rather agitated and seem to break $^&*.
Very cool video!
Thanks for sharing!
Set the trap boys, we going to pass through them again!!
Next time tell the guys to drop the bait against the side of the boat - not toss it 20 feet away! You gotta get that killer close to the boat for better photos!

Cool stuff. I think that the seasonal grouper closure has probably saved a diver’s life. It was only a matter of time before one of us had an underwater encounter during Jan\Feb. November is a little early! Most of us are still diving then!
Nice Video, hopefully we can make some good ones this season on the PainKiller 2. Yeah!!!

I saw one of them while diving out of Little River a year ago in the early winter. Scared the crap out of us but it didn’t come to close when you were facing it. Turn your back to it and it would come closer.

That is sweet would love to see one in the wild!! Jordan thats what predators do they attack when they know they aren’t being watched. Thats why many animals have false eye spots. Heard from a shark biologist that in Hawaii some divers were a mask on the back of there head with eyes painted on to deter tigers.
A couple of guys who dive out of Murrells Inlet saw two while shooting fish at the end of November. They were about 40 miles out both times and the sightings were several miles apart. As the story goes, they were shooting fish and the first one came in hot, making several passes while they sent their stringers up on lift bags. After that it vanished as they high tailed it to the surface. The second was about a week later and it came in nice and slow circling many times until they got back on the boat. They said the second one was as big as a bus.
