Had a Wildlifesc kind of day!

Started off the day a little later than usual. Had to help the wife get the kids ready and off to daycare. Hit the water around 8:45 or so. Tried drop #1 and fished for a while… Didnt even see a fish. Rolled up and headed to drop #2. Got settled dropped the trolling motor in and Bam! Nice 20 in trout on first cast… Got it right beside the boat and it got off. Oh well I wasnt going to keep it anyway but I would have liked to of had a picture. Threw the cajun anchor in (got the achor from DoubleN thanks again for that Glenn) and waited for the tide to bring the fish to me. Its a smaller feeder creek that breaks off into a big flat with oyster beds and such. Once the tide rolled out pretty good I started catching fish. The boat was sitting in about 3 inches of water. I have fished this spot a few times to get left high and dry and not catch a thing but today was a different story. I caught 11 red drum ranging from 19-28"s 1 trout 1 bonnet head and a hand full of sting rays. Had 2 or 3 double hook ups and no one to share a rod with what a shame! Lol Here are some pics.

I took this picture and decided to go Gunny on em and the rest turned out better…

Great post. I wish I had worn one of those precious little things back when I was a competition water skier. Those were the days when we tanned with baby oil and iodine mixed. Now it’s long sleeve shirts, 75 SPF and an annual trip to the dermatologist. Just don’t get a beret.

Thanks for the replies fellas… If it wasn’t for you guys chiming in I’d prolly quit posting on this site.

Thanks Curt… If I said I could catch fish like that consistently I would be lying. I’ve put in a lot of work over the years to learn how to catch these critters and I still haven’t figured it out yet. Seems like the best days I have are the ones when im fishing by myself. I’m not in a hurry cause there’s no pressure to put someone on a fish… Seems like when u slow down they come along and find you. Of course it helps to know the general areas they are hanging out at. I called a good friend of mine who is a guide and told him the fish were in the spot if he had any clients take them there. He took them there the next day and they only caught 3… I caught 11 in 45 min by myself. Go figure! Slow down be patient watch for the fish u will find them.

just curious. How did you take solo Pix?

It’s an ancient Native American secret called “propcellphoneonconsoleuseselftimer” My cellphone has a second lens on the screen side so I can use self timer and see myself pose for the picture before it takes.

I must be part NA also…I use same technique. Had a brain fart and hosed camera down upon returning from a trip a couple of months back. Had to cough up more wampum for new camera thingamajig.

XX, you notice the folks who catch a lot don’t share their spots with others unless they are very trusted friends. A year from now your spot could look like a boat parking lot. Just my two cents, but still a great post.

Jighead I understand exactly where you are coming from. If they can tell where I was fishig by the small amount of trees in the back ground than by all means have at it… I don’t mind teaching someone something or sharing what I know to a certain point but it all comes down to putting in work. There’s no such thing as “secret spots”. There are quite a few people who fish that spot besides me. The guide I told knew about that spot long before I started fishig there… Sometimes it produces sometimes it doesn’t that’s why we let each other know if the fish are there. Big waste of time if they’re not there. Thanks again for the advice… It’s sad that u can’t trust people anymore.

Part of my problem is I dont put in enought time fishing. I have too many hobbys. and an example, Here is what I did on Saturday instead of fishing.
