Recently I bought a reel from Haddrels. I mistakingly thought something was wrong with the reel and brought it back for them to take a look at it. Nothing was wrong with the reel it was just not a good match for surf fishing and was more suited for off shore. At this point I realized I had made a costly 300.00 mistake and no one was to blame but myself. I was crushed, money don’t come easy and I figured I was stuck with the reel. To my amazement the manager Mike Jr. offered to help me out. He had no obligation to do so, but offered anyway. He went above and beyond what he had to do and sincerely showed great interest in resolving my problem. He fixed it for me and got me into a new reel and just wanted to make sure I was satisfied. I can not stress enough at how happy I am as a customer and what great lengths the store went to to help me fix my problem. Haddrels did a bang up job and has a customer for life. They have earned my buisness it will pay off for them 10 fold. Thank you Haddrels and thank you Mike Jr. incredible job!
I have only been into Haddrell’s twice so far, even though I work just down the street at a local marina/charter boat. I haven’t made any big purchases yet, but I surely will there when the time comes. As a personal thing, I always try and give my money to the local shops whether it be restaurants, (dislike chains) supplies, etc. Honestly, their (Haddrell’s) prices compete with the big stores as well.
Anywho, I was born and raised on the Jersey Shore (Yes, a Northerner) however Haddrell’s reminds me of my hometown sport shop/bait store…in that they always treat you like a local, are helpful, never snotty, and the type of business that seems to employ genuine caring people. Mt. Pleasant is now my home for life, and a few weeks ago I walked in there to get some fiddlers with my wife and girls, and they were so helpful. Some stores make you feel like a big dummy when you walk in and ask about bait while really not knowing much about local fishing. Haddrell’s definitely does not, and frankly got my girls even more excited (if that is possible) about fishing.
I hope my girls someday refer back to them some day, when they are older and going fishing with friends, etc. as “that is the place my Dad always goes.” When they are my age. Off soap box.
Haddrels Is my go to tackle shop! Great customer service and knowledge. I forgot my wallet at the house one morning. They let me take what i needed till the next time. One of Charlestons great businesses IMOP.
