Harbor Island

Looking for some advice on the area. We are heading down to the northern end of Harbor island in late July for vacation. The house we have says its located on a tidal creek however no good pictures are really available of the creek. Also it looks like the marsh/harbor river is near by. Are there any good shore access spots to the creek river area that hold fish? I plan to do some surf fishing but have never fished this area dn am looking for any advice that anyone is willing to give out. Thanks

Ricky

Are you on the Pelican point side? I know a couple good spots there.

I am more north of there according to google maps. I love to cast in the surf, but what I would love to do is hit up some of the creeks/lagoons. Trying to talk the wife into a kayak before we go

I sent you a pm.

Your beat bet might be to go to Fripp inlet or the state park loads of public areas there with good bank fishing or use the pier.

I will be there in August. I would love any help as well only cone down once a year and its hard to find spots only 7 days out of the year lol

Thanks for the help so far. This is a new are for us. We have been to HHI many times and up into NC but figured we would try this area this year.

Thanks everyone for the help. Any bait shops on the island? or does bait seem to be plentiful in the creeks?

There is main line market on harbor but you can catch bait with cast net in the creeks on the island

You can try to fish, but it sounds like you’re little lost so it would probably be more frustrating than fruitful for you. It’s going to be hot as all hell…you want the truth? Buy some fresh fish from Gay’s and eat that. Drink cold adult beverages and relax on the beach.

Next time you come in, come heavy, or not at all…

…and if I’d listened to advice like that from the last post 15+ years ago I wouldn’t have had the memories (and fish caught) that I’ve managed on our typical 10 day sojourn every year…

Thanks for that advice but I don’t drink nor am I fishing for supper. My idea of relaxing is spending time on the beach with my wife and kids and fishing, hot or cold. If there is water near by you can bet I’m going to fish it. If I catch fish the way I see it, it’s just an added bonus. The most important thing to me is the memories made taking my son out and seeing the excitement on his face if/when we hook up with a fish. Thanks again for those who have offered up useful spots. We aren’t going down until late July but I’ll definitely let y’all know how we do.
