Hard earned red on folly 7/16

Went out around 3:30 today, and fished till 11:30… Current was pretty bad, and not much was biting, not even whiting. I did manage to catch 3 whiting, and met a new guy who was interested in fishing for sharks but he only caught 1 pup shark and 1 whiting.

Finally around 10:30pm I had a run on the Battle 6000 which felt like a good fish but not quite big enough to be a decent blacktip. I got it in the surf and found a 31" red drum on a whiting head. Not much to show for 8 hours of fishing, but overall better than nothing!

That’s why they call it fishing and not catching. Thanks for having me out there, I’m gonna try to make Tuesday’s my weekday fishing night.

It’s rare to go out and not even have the whiting biting. Usually catch them one after the other. Last night I caught 5 in about 5 mins

When you go out and catch whiting for shark bait, what rig and bait do you use?
