Anybody hear any reports coming from the OBX? Any of y’all making the trip this year?
they are killing the yellowfin, goto oregon inlet fishing center for reports.
Capt. Brian Horsely and a good portion of that crowd go down annually and generally keep up well with the daily reports.
I might be making the trip for a day or two, depends if I get a real job here anytime soon or not.

Heading there in two weeks…our local fly fishing club rented a house for a month on Harkers. Can’t wait to hook into one of those speed demons.
With this cold front pushing down this week, if you can get out, it should be picking up. This fishery particularly this time of year is all about water temp and bait. When the baits there and you can get out, the fishings great! If you’re a day or two on the wrong side of a front, it can be poor You may want to check out Captain Joe’s Shuts fishing report on his web site, Captain Joe’s Bait and Tackle, just varify the report that you’re looking at is current!!
We’ll be up there 11/11-14. It will be my first albie trip and I am stoked!

Yep, I am with Jerms. Sorry I won’t make it tonight, but my wife is flying back in from her Halloween in Vegas. I also went for the 10+ beer route on Saturday night and was in no kind of shape to fish the next morning(gone are the college days of drinking a ton of alcohol with no hangover).

Mike - we’ll definitely have to catch up and work together on the fish next week. What boat are you guys taking and where are you staying?
We’ll have my bayboat and we’re staying at the Beaufort Inn.

7 days and counting down! Weather has Tuesday looking nice 60% chance of rain wed and thurs, but looks like low wind speed. Lets keep our fingers crossed, if the weather plays nice I think the fish will cooperate.

oh they’ll cooperate alright… right up to the point when I drive home a #1/0 stanless steel hook in their faces!!
god this will be the longest week ever…

Just got back last night. Went 4 for 5 Sunday on the east side. Olive/white clousers and tuti fruity.
Monday weather sucked and we lost 2 due to user error. Headed home yesterday afternoon home as today and Wed were set to be blow outs
You guys will have a blast.
Shadow, I started looking at the weather today too, but it is a brain tease, they don’t know whats gonna happen in 5 hours let alone whats gonna happen in 7 days.
Mike, we will officially be on the road this time next week. Unless you call in sick in which case we will be already enjoying beer #4 this time next week.
Hey guys don’t sweat the weather it’s always a crap shoot this time of year, just make sure that you bring some of your lighter weight Red & Trout rods so not if but when you get blown out on the outside, you can get back in the marsh and get on the Reds & Trout. There should be plenty of both around this time of year and they are typically pretty willing to cooperate.
As for your fly selection just make sure that you bring plenty of smaller Tan/Wht, Olive/Wht, Pink/Wht & Pink/Chaertreuse. You will also want some all Chartresue and all White with plenty of flash. If the Bay Anchovies are around you’ll need some smaller Orange, Rootbeer & Copper over White otherwise most all of the above should get you bit and keep ya in the fish, sometimes they won’t take the stuff on top! Buy the way don’t forget your 10 weights and make sure they have plenty of backing…you’ll need both!
I hope to make it up there sometime in the next couple of weeks as well.
Found this report with some really cool pictures from the weekend. It gets the heart racing. If I can make it up there I would love to meet y’all. Will let you know if I can.
