Anyone making a trip to Harkers anytime soon? May (and thats a big may) try to put a trip together. Sounds like the big spanish are thick and the Albies are starting to show in better #'s and more places.
heading up Nov 11th-15th… been hearing some good reports from up that way… nothing thats gonna make me drive up there just yet though. I can catch spanish here…
Hopefully I can make it happen this year. It’s been too long. That place is a small slice of heaven. Don’t know if anyone pays attention to this site or not but they are incredible guides with a very professional website and have almost daily reports from the HIFC.
For those of you going to Harkers. Our fly fishing club rents out a house from the end of Oct. to the middle of Nov. It’s a pretty nice house right as you get onto Harkers. They have access to a private boat landing and plenty of parking. The best part is that they’re all fly fishermen and it’s only $25 a night + food.
For info on the house check out www.vcfa.org When you get to the website check under “schedule and events”
I unfortunately have not had a chance to go down this week. I do however here that they have been having good luck on the point and the spit. Will let you know more when some guys from our club get back this weekend.
Scotty D and I will be there from the 5th to the 9th at the Harkers island fishing center.
Mike and Chad We really wanted to get out there at the same time as yall but I had some obligations and had to move the trip a week earlier. Would have been fun to get some drinks and tell some lies. Good luck hopefully scotty and me will leave yall some fish.
good luck guys. i was supposed to make the trip but things fell through last second. my friend is up there now through sunday. if you see a yellow pathfinder 22 with a vmax on it those are some charleston boys.
Just got back. We got into them Friday and Saturday, more wind Friday but did well both days. They were scattered all over, caught them inside the hook to on down to Emerald Isle. Plenty of bait balls showing up at intervals. We were able to find one baitball with no other boats in sight and was able to follow it for a good long while catching a bunch of albies before they went down.
